WIP Check in

Gonna be brief here. I didn't spend much time on my WIP this Friday. I mainly typed up notes for scenes and didn't flesh out anything specific. Mainly because I've put myself in a pickle. On Monday, I started a new book. That project will get most of my creativity and head space for the coming months. So this was my first Friday of having two manuscripts that I'm working on. How is that gonna work? There's no way to predict, but I'm committing to be good to myself and to the work.

All that to say, this little WIP might get neglected. I'll need to amp up my organization skills.

WIP word count: 3333 (no lie).

WIP check in

Writing session #2 in the books for the WIP. I wasn't as productive today as last time, but I've learned that when it comes to writing, you appreciate that word count no matter what! Last week I hit over 2k words. This time around, not even 1k. The story is still new, fresh, and fun, but it was more work. I've also learned that pushing hard doesn't mean much. Sure, you might end up with words, but they will read 'forced' and need deleted / reworked / you name it. So my little 947 words are more likely to be keepers. Hopefully. (I'm a LONG way from edits which is when I'll sit down and labor over those words. Not now.) Today, I'll take it and celebrate that nip of progress.

I did it!

Well, I started. 'Did' implies that I finished. Nope. But today was the first day I started a book that has just been an idea rolling around in my head. Maybe I will work on it every Friday...or every other Friday. My Friday indulgence. I don't have a particular plan. I also don't have an outline. So all around, this will be an experiment.

As of Friday, March 17: 2,181 words on WIP.

Favorite Reading Spot

Where is your favorite place to get lost in a book? For me, it's the beach. But when I'm not sinking my toes into the sand, I love curling up on the couch with a hot chocolate by my side. In college, I often holed up in the university library for HOURS. What those little nooks lacked in comfort, though, they made up for in solitude.

Is there a spot where you can't read? I've never been able to read in the car without get nauseous or a headache. Surprisingly, reading on an airplane is also a no-go. Not sure why on that one.
